Swindon Growers – monthly summary of local activities for gardeners

☀️

The downloadable file below show the line up for June 2026. Posters for the Christ Church Eco festival this weekend and Purton Open gardens at the end of the month are also atttached. And DON’T FORGET the Summer Open Day at TWIGS on 21st June!

Rebecca Brain’s Bishopstone nursery is open most weekends right now with a fantastic stock of garden-ready plants. To get her latest opening schedules, join the mailing list by emailing rebeccabrain@rocketmail.com

There are numerous volunteering opportunities around these activities, of course, and such involvement can be very fulfilling. Volunteering extends far beyond digging and hoping; many garden clubs actively seek new committee members. SALGA is looking for volunteers to assist in their shop at Pickards Field which is a lovely way of meeting fellow growers! Many community groups would welcome social media help, coordinators or event planners.

In addition, Royal Wootton Basset Gardening Club are running an afternoon visit to Rodmarton Manor Garden, near Cirencester on Tuesday 30th June, 2-4pm.  This is a private visit and the cost is £17pp which includes an introduction on arrival, map, refreshments and cake.  We will need payment by the 10th June.

Rodmarton Manor has belonged to the Biddulph family since 1909.  The 8 acre Arts and Crafts garden was designed as a series of outdoor rooms.  Sarah and her husband are the fourth generation of the family to care for Rodmarton and Sarah has started to make subtle changes to the garden so there is a wide selection of planting with superb vistas and views throughout and plenty of spaces to sit and admire the view

If you are interested, please contact alison.jgardner@gmail.com to book a place and get our bank details for payment. The reference for BACS is RODMARTON. This is a self drive visit, so car sharing recommended.
