General

SALGA holds monthly meetings on a variety of subjects, generally with a plant and garden theme.  See the What’s on area of this website for further information.

SALGA has its own members only shop, run by volunteers and located at the Pickards Field site in the Pinehurst area of Swindon. See the Members’ shop area of this website for a location map and for information on opening hours and prices of the more popular items sold.

SALGA has as its Objects (set out in our Constitution – see link below) The advancement of education in horticulture and to promote, encourage and improve horticulture by the holding of horticultural shows, competitions, meetings, lectures, discussions, demonstrations and running allotment gardens. Thus we hold an horticultural show and a schools garden competition every year; further information on these and our our other activities is presented elsewhere on this website.

SALGA also runs regular outings and holidays for members.

SALGA is a registered charity. This means that, among other things, it can claim back Gift Aid contributions from the Tax Office on behalf of its members, in order to raise additional funds to re-invest in to the Association’s functions for the benefit of its members. So far this year, over 200 members, in renewing their subscriptions (£7 per household per year) or signing up as new members, have signed a Gift Aid declaration that will enable Treasurer, John Edgerton, to claim back £1.75 per declaration from the Tax Office.

SALGA’s Constitution, and the minutes of our most recent Annual General Meeting (16 May 2024), are set out in the downloadable files below.
